Hockley Sprinkler Repair

The sprinkler system still runs in the rain

Sprinklers running in a Gulf downpour are not saving the lawn. They are usually a sensor that is bypassed, a sensor that never got wet, or a program that does not listen to the sensor. This is a controller repair problem more often than a valve problem.

Find the bypass

Many sensors have a bypass switch on the controller or on the sensor itself. Bypass is useful for a test and easy to forget. If the switch says bypass, the rain does not matter. Put it back on active and watch the next start time.

Did the sensor get wet?

A sensor under a deep eave, or one packed with leaves, may stay dry while the yard is soaked. Cork or disk sensors also swell and then stick. Cleaning or replacing the sensor is a smaller job than a new timer. The opposite fault, a yard that will not water after the sun returns, is covered in why the controller is not working.

Programs that ignore the sensor

Some stations can be set to skip the sensor. A drip bed might be configured that way on purpose. A turf station should not be. Read the program before you assume the hardware failed. Builder setups in Cypress are worth a look.

When the zone runs because the valve is stuck

If water runs and the controller display says the station is off, the valve is not obeying. That is a wet valve box and valve repair, not a sensor. Shut the irrigation water off if you can do it safely.

A sensor will not fix bad coverage. After the rain behavior is right, a tune-up still belongs on the calendar. Tell us the city, from Hockley to Cypress, when you request the visit.
